STM Technology Strategy
Phase 1: Discovery & Visioning
(2026-2027)
STM has an opportunity to define what it means for students to become technologically literate, ethically grounded, and intellectually curious in an age of rapid technological change, preparing them for a world where digital literacy and moral discernment are closely connected. We aim to achieve this while building on STM’s strengths, leveraging them without overburdening staff or faculty, and setting forth a vision that is achievable, meaningful, and sustainable.
GOALS
-
Develop a shared understanding of the current state of technology education at STM, including existing curriculum, learning experiences, resources, strengths, gaps, and constraints, in order to identify primary opportunity areas
-
Understand the aspirations, concerns, and perspectives of key STM stakeholders, with a focus on faculty, in order to inform a future vision for technology education
-
Define the guiding principles, priorities, and requirements for STM’s future technology education strategy and investments (e.g. curriculum, professional development, technology infrastructure, instructional models)
OUTCOMES
-
Shared understanding of the current state and future aspirations for technology education at STM
-
Shared decision-making framework (e.g., vision, philosophy of technology education, curriculum requirements) that can be used to guide future curriculum investments and priorities
-
Synthesis of findings that can be referenced throughout future phases
